According to a study, visitors from Instagram spend an average of 192 seconds on websites. This is over 3 minutes higher than any other marketing platform. Instagram’s engagement rate sits at 4.21%. That’s 10 times higher than Facebook, 54 times higher than Pinterest, and 84 times higher than Twitter. In fact, Instagram traffic stays 45% longer than visitors from Facebook and 40% longer than visitors from Twitter. This means it’s crucial for you to spend time in building your Instagram following and converting your visitors into real customers.

1. Join or Create an Engagement Pod
Engagement Pods don’t get discussed too often, but it’s what marketers and influencers have been doing for years to boost their engagement on Instagram. An Engagement Pod is a group of profiles who like and comment on each other’s posts as soon as an image has been posted. In doing this, it drives up each profile in the Instagram algorithm and tells Instagram your profile or post is sought after. Imagine if every time you posted a photo, 2000 people liked and commented on your photo within the first hour? Instagram would then rank your page higher and it will increase your chance of being featured on the top ‘Instagram Explore’ page; putting you in front of a larger audience. 2. Use Videos, IGTV and Use Instagram’s Other Features
Instagram isn’t just about photos anymore. They’ve expanded beyond just an image platform and have features such as Instagram Stories, videos and even polls. Instagram rates your account higher if you’re using their full set of features. Videos draw higher engagement numbers, which is not exactly groundbreaking news, but what is interesting, is bigger profiles post more video. The higher the number of followers a profile has, the more that you see an upward trend in using videos. Save your Instagram Stories to Highlights.
Instagram Highlights essentially gives you an opportunity to engage with your customers on a deeper level. It’s essentially giving you additional space on your profile to interact with prospects so use it! Use this section to save stories of behind the scenes, or anything that doesn’t make it to your Instagram photo grid.
3. Engage with Users
Instagram is all about relationships, just like any other social platform. It’s all about give and take so find profiles who align with your brand and interests and show them some love! Like, comment and follow other accounts. Be active on their profiles, establish yourself with your target market and engage! There are also plenty of AI automation bots that can do this for you now. Best engagement meaning, the most “likes” and comments divided by a user’s number of followers. They found that on average, the most successful times to post on Instagram are 2:00 AM and 5:00 PM. You may be wondering, why 2 AM and 5 PM?
Founder of Later, Matt Smith offers up a few philosophies about why these specific times stood out. Smith told the HuffPost, “We think this is because less people are posting at that time and that more engaged users are using Instagram at that time.” You may have already guessed, but 5 PM seems to make sense because it’s the time most people are wrapping up at work and possibly procrastinating on social media before they go home for the day.
According to Latergramme, these are the best times of the week to post by week:
- Sunday: 5:00 p.m.
- Monday: 7:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m.
- Tuesday: 3:00 a.m. & 10:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: 5:00 p.m.
- Thursday: 7:00 a.m. & 11:00 p.m.
- Friday: 1:00 a.m. & 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 12:00 a.m. & 2:00 a.m.
