Joachim joins BFM once again to discuss the most recently announced updated stimulus package, focused on helping SMEs.
8 April 2020 – About a week ago, Joachim was interviewed by BFM where he shared his thoughts about the stimulus package or Bantuan Prihatin Nasional that was announced by our Prime Minister YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and how it may not be sufficient in aiding SMEs and start ups. After the announcement, Joachim had written an open letter to the Prime Minister on his personal Facebook page, which gathered the attention of many entrepreneurs, prompting BFM’s interview, and further gaining the attention of netizens at large.
The Prime Minister was tagged multiple times in the post, but whether it came to his attention or not remains uncertain. However, since the event, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced an updated stimulus package, this time including more details about SMEs funding and aid. Following the announcement, Joachim was called to be interviewed for a second time by BFM, this time talking about the updated package.
“This package is a great package to address (because) the ones that are on the lower end of the spectrum, the smaller SMEs, (whereby) the turnover is about RM100,000 a year and below (are included). This really creates a huge impact for them and these are the bulk of the SME’s anyway. So this is a good programme,” the Everpeaks founder said. He believes that this is a huge step in the right direction, but also calls out to listeners to understand that the government will not be able to address all angles of the economy in such a short time.
